Loyalty 3.0 is what would possibly be called the gamification approach to loyalty, in particular, customer loyalty. Game designers understand this technique very well - a technique used to keep gamers engaged and motivated. Loyalty 3.0 is data-driven, and game designers continuously collect and analyse the data they collect. Big Data analytics give game designers the ability to make accurate predictions on how gamers would behave. Online business too are using big data and knowledge of their customers to make purchasing suggestions and offers.

In a similar way, employers can gain a better understanding of their employees by using the HR/HCM data they already have as well as data that can be obtained (eg. social media data, etc.) to engage with their employees at a more personal level.
